Capital D (Design Cooperation Brainport)
The Made in Brainport exposition was developed by Capital D, the Design Cooperation in the “Brainport region” of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. It was designed to be a continuously changing presentation as it travels around the globe and was resoundingly successful at Istanbul Design Week and at Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. Made in Brainport combines technologies with the designs of more than 80 creative parties in the Brainport region, among them renowned designers and companies including Philips, VanBerlo, GBO and Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe, as well as students of Design Academy Eindhoven and TU/e.


Lectures:

Capital D (Design Cooperation Brainport)
“What design can do” by Hans Robertus, Director of Dutch Design Week and Director of Capital D, the Design Cooperation in the “Brainport” region of Eindhoven. Capital D aims to stimulate and connect creative initiatives that strengthen the region’s national and international reputation in the fields of high technology and design. Robertus will present his views on the importance of design and design philosophy.
“New trends in Design” by Zuzanna Skalska, trend watcher and curator of the fifth edition of the Made in Brainport exposition. At VanBerlo, Skalska is a full-time trend researcher in a large number of branches in the industry. She is the author of the 360° Trend Report books – winner of the Red Dot Communication Award 2009. Skalska is a member of the board of Dutch Design Week and of the advisory board of Capital D. Together with Li Edelkoort she currently is creating a new design academy, the School of Form, in Poznan, Poland. Skalska will focus on the role of design in the near future.
“Create the Dutch Design Difference” by Bas van Berkhout and JanErik Baars. In a short, inspiring presentation, Baars (an associate at VanBerlo, the largest Dutch design firm) and van Berkhout (Director of VanBerlo) will share some insights on how Dutch design can rock Germany!
