Bayerisches Nationalmuseum

Bayerisches Nationalmuseum is one of the major museums of the history of art and culture in Europe. Evolving around the Wittelsbach collection, the origins of the exhibits can be traced far beyond the borders of Bavaria. The tour takes visitors through historic interiors that illustrate occidental art from the early Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Classicism to Art Nouveau. The main floor houses paintings, sculptures, tapestries, furniture, weapons and crafts from the early Middle Ages to the Enlightenment. The top floor showcases an overview of culture from Classicism to the early 20th century. The world-famous collection of Nativity scenes comprises more than 60 Christmas settings staged in an illusionist manner.
