As a pioneer, the artist Tanja Major researches and produces the innovative transformation of mushrooms into paper fibres
Open from 12 May-18 May, Monday, Saturday and Sunday the artist is present
Some of the works are exhibited in the art bakery.
The handmade papers made from mushrooms show new possibilities in paper production. They are made from 100% mushrooms and can therefore be described as "compostable or sustainable art". Forests do not have to be cut down and laboriously processed to produce paper.
Research is focussed on natural substances and artistic processes that serve as the basis for the production of paper. The acquired
mycological knowledge and paper production processes are the result of the ideas and from there have found their way into artistic realisation.
Working with fungi can be seen as a symbiotic co-operation between man and nature.
She learnt various techniques of handmade paper production, some of which are based on old traditional production methods. Mushrooms provide a natural material that is characterised by a high degree of vitality and inspirational power. As a result, unusual structures and haptics manifest themselves, some of which are rough, creamy, wadded, stable, but also brittle or parchment-like.
