How do participatory design processes shape public space? studio formagora provides insights into their work at the intersection of design, craftsmanship, and collaborative creation.

studio formagora explores how design can function as a societal process. The focus is on projects that emerge through communal negotiation, with craftsmanship playing a key role in connecting space, material, and social participation. Design is understood not merely as shaping form, but as a mediating and structuring process that facilitates interaction and opens new perspectives on space utilization.

The lecture addresses design as a tool for strengthening self-efficacy and collective co-design. How can design processes generate not only functional but also social qualities? What significance do materiality and craft production hold in this context? How can local resources and knowledge be integrated into participatory projects? studio formagora provides insights into the methods and challenges of this approach through concrete projects.

The event invites discussion on the role of design in societal transformation processes. Participatory design can not only change spaces but also experiment with new forms of living and working together. How can design processes enable genuine co-determination? What role do material cycles and sustainable production methods play? And how can design be understood as an exchange between different stakeholders? Following the lecture, there will be space for open discussion and exchange.
