Urban Playground: Build Your Munich—Powered by AI
GENSLER MUNICH

- Technology
Rindermarkt 5, 80331 München
Join us at Gensler Munich to discuss the future of the city and collaborate in an interactive AI session to imagine new places, experiences, and ideas that could shape Munich’s future.
Munich is known for its exceptional quality of life and vibrant public realm. Its city center combines historic streets, cultural institutions, and commercial life within a compact, walkable environment. Places including Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt anchor the social heart of the city, attracting residents and visitors into shared urban experiences. But as patterns of work, mobility, and leisure evolve, city centers across Europe are being reimagined. How can Munich’s center move beyond its traditional role as a shopping haunt to support richer urban experiences? What could a more playful, adaptable, and climate-conscious city center look like?
This session explores the idea of the city as urban playground, a place that encourages exploration, interaction, and new forms of public life. From temporary events and cultural programming to shaded streets and greener public spaces, small design interventions can reshape how people experience the city.
The session at Gensler’s Munich office begins with an open discussion about the current experience of the city center and the opportunities for change. Participants will then take part in an interactive AI workshop, using generative tools to visualise new ideas for places and spaces, amenities and activities, and urban experiences. Together, we will imagine new possibilities for Munich’s city center, and explore how design and technology can help shape a more vibrant, experiential, and resilient urban lifestyle district.
