Elisabeth Merk

Prof. Dr. (University of Florence) Elisabeth Merk, architect, has served as the City of Munich’s Planning Director since 2007 and was reelected in 2018 for the third time. From 1988 to 1994, she worked in architecture and monument protection. From 1995 to 2000, she contributed to urban planning, urban monument conservation, and special projects in Munich and Regensburg. She headed the urban development and urban planning division in Halle/Saale from 2000 to 2006.
