Fritz Frenkler studied industrial design at the HBK Braunschweig. He worked as managing director of frogdesign Asia, headed the wiege Wilkhahn development company and was head of design at Deutsche Bahn AG. In 2000 he founded f/p design deutschland gmbh and in 2003 f/p design japan inc.
He is jury chairman of the iF product design awards and a member of the iF Design Foundation, Hanover. Since 1995 he has been involved in the World Design Organisation, and since 2013 he has been a member of the Akademie der Künste Berlin. In 2006, Fritz Frenkler was appointed to the new chair of Industrial Design at the TUM. There, together with his team, he established Bavaria's first Master's programme for design at a university.
