Gerhard Weitmann

Gerhard Weitmann has been a member of the BDS since 1964 and currently serves as secretary of the regional association Ostallgäu Süd. As a long-time entrepreneur in building preservation, he knows the challenges of small businesses and the reality of aging with impairments.

Since 2024, he has lived with a severe visual impairment and brings his experience into public discussions—especially around barriers in accessing information and digital communication.

In the panel, Gerhard Weitmann speaks openly and practically about everyday inclusion, digital obstacles for the self-employed, and the importance of clear structures for participation—especially in rural areas. His voice stands for lived experience, pragmatism, and the will to spark change.
