Karin Schmidt-Friderichs

After studying architecture, Karin Schmidt-Friderichs worked as an architect before setting up the Hermann Schmidt publishing house together with Bertram Schmidt-Friderichs in 1992. Today, the publishing house is one of the world's most renowned names when it comes to books on design topics and Schmidt-Friderichs passes on her experience as a consultant, coach and lecturer. She has been head of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association since 2019. She is a member of the ADC for Germany, the ISTD and the DDC. In 2014, the Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate awarded Karin and Bertram Schmidt-Friderichs the Order of Merit for their cultural commitment. In 2018, they were also honoured with the Antiquaria Prize for the Promotion of Book Culture.
