Petra Gehring

Prof. Dr. Petra Gehring is Professor of Philosophy at the Technical University of Darmstadt, where she heads the Centre for Responsible Digitalization (ZEVEDI) of the State of Hesse. After studying philosophy, political science and law, she completed her doctorate with a thesis on Michel Foucault, Jacques Derrida and Jean-Francois Lyotard. This was followed by a habilitation on the philosophy of law. She has been teaching at the TU Darmstadt since 2002.
Gehring is one of the most prominent voices when it comes to the critical examination of digital change and its social implications. She deals with questions of the philosophy of technology and digital infrastructures at the interfaces of digitalization, science, law and society.
