Tamiko Thiel

Artist Tamiko Thiel is originally a product designer with degrees in engineering from Stanford and MIT. In 1983-1985, she developed the first commercial AI supercomputer and inspired Steve Jobs' NeXT computer and Apple's visual aesthetic. Her VR artwork "Beyond Manzanar" was one of the first VR artworks to enter an art museum collection, and her work "Virtual Wall" about the Berlin Wall won the IBM Innovation Award. She is a founding member of Manifest.AR and participated in the groundbreaking guerrilla augmented reality intervention at MoMA NY. She curated MoMA's AR intervention at the Venice Biennale in 2011. Currently, her work "Waldwandel" can be seen in the exhibition "Flowers Forever" at Kunsthalle Munich.
