While studying economics, Thomas Jarzombek started his own business in 1996 with an IT services company and, until 2017, was an associate of a business focused in the IT service sector. He has been politically active for over 25 years, for example as a member of the Düsseldorf City Council and the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia, as a member of the German Bundestag or of the Committee on Transport and Digital Infrastructure. Since 2014 he has been District Chairman of the CDU Düsseldorf. From 2014 to 2018 he was digital policy spokesperson for the CDU/CSU party in the German Bundestag and a member of the Digital Agenda Committee. In 2018, he became part of the German Federal Cabinet and since 2019 he has been Commissioner of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
