Manfred J. Holler studied economics at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich (1966-68), law at the Université de Lausanne (1968-1969) and again economics (1969-71) and political science (1972-1975) at the LMU, where he received his doctorate in 1975 and his habilitation in November 1984. In 1984-1985, he was Professor of Insurance Economics at the LMU. From 1986-1991, he was Associate Professor at the University of Aarhus, Denmark. In 1991 he accepted a full professorship at the University of Hamburg. In October 2011 he retired after reaching retirement age. His research and teaching focus was on microeconomics, in particular game theory. Since then he has been active as an editor and author.
