Central meeting point at Rindermarkt

mcbw hub & mcbw design shop

Ruffinihaus #kreativmuenchen, Rindermarkt 10, 80331 Munich

The mcbw hub at Ruffinihaus hosts the official mcbw info point:
Here, visitors can pick up the latest magazine, learn more from our media partners, and get answers to all festival-related questions.

For the first time, mcbw is also opening a design pop-up store:
The pop-up store is open from Tuesday, April 28 to Saturday, May 9, 2026 (except Sundays and public holidays) and invites visitors to discover extraordinary design, find new favorite pieces, and experience the diversity of the regional design scene.

Many thanks to Kreativ München for the Ruffinihaus location and MAGAZIN for the furniture provided.

The city as a playground

mcbw public space x Cappella del Suono

Südwiese Alte Pinakothek, opposite Gabelsbergerstraße 35, 80333 Munich

For the mcbw, the architecture collective of Studio Carraldo is setting up two interactive pavilions on the south lawn of the Alte Pinakothek—open, experimental, and interactive. A mcbw public space installation!

Cappella del Suono by Studio Carraldo is a space that can be experienced with all the senses. Wind chimes create a delicate acoustic structure and produce an interaction of light and shadow.

On display on the south lawn to May 17, 2026!

The city as a playground

mcbw public space x Delulu

Südwiese Alte Pinakothek, opposite Gabelsbergerstraße 35, 80333 Munich

In Studio Carraldo's 2nd pavilion Delulu, the playfulness becomes immediately apparent: the installation invites visitors to enjoy a delightful sense of disorientation in a walk-through maze. Fun guaranteed!

Delulu is conceived as an experimental space, a playground of possibilities, that reflects on our role as designers. The installation asks how we can take responsibility while still designing courageously amid uncertainty, change, and illusion.

On display on the spot until May 17, 2026!

Making design visible

mcbw pop-up x stories around

At Pschorr, Viktualienmarkt 15, 80331 Munich

This year, the mcbw pop-up exhibition container stories around in the city center will be operated by students from IU International University.

The starting point is a familiar symbol of the Viktualienmarkt: the potato. Versatile, locally rooted, and once a “migrant,” it becomes the narrator of stories about origin, identity, and diversity. In the container, these stories are collected, shared, and carried into the urban space in a haptic, visual, and interactive way.

Making design visible

mcbw pop-up x Light Up

Propyläen at Königsplatz, Luisenstraße 31, 80333 Munich

The second exhibition container Light Up was developed by students of Design for Digital Futures (M.A.)—DFDF at the Faculty of Design at Nuremberg Tech (TH Nürnberg).

A space full of light, movement, and togetherness – where individual moments merge into a quietly vibrating, collective light space. Light Up combines multiple nodes into an interconnected field of experience, made up of short autonomous modules that respond to proximity, movement, and cooperation and feed their light signals upward into a shared structure.

Creative Morning Sessions 2026

mcbw base x Andreas Enslin: LösungsNetz

New technologies have always inspired design, and new technologies have always given rise to new aesthetics. At the same time, the demand for new products also brings with it the need for suitable technology. Andreas Enslin talks about the influence of AI on creativity, design, and product development.

Creative Morning Sessions 2026

mcbw base x Designworks

Designworks, a BMW Group Company, has made its internal Playground of Possibilities the cornerstone of every project. In a lively 30-minute session, the designers will share four powerful approaches they use to fully leverage their Playground of Possibilities, turning creative freedom into forward-thinking solutions.

Creative Morning Sessions 2026

mcbw base x Efrat Friedland: materialscout

Designers are currently under enormous pressure to source functional and cheap materials for the products they design. In this hands-on session, we will explore the hidden characteristics of materials and play around with them to spark new ideas. Oh, and by the way, it'll be fun!

Creative Morning Sessions 2026

mcbw base x Viki Lund & Studio Viki Lund: Talk „Mut & Machen"

Viki Lund creates multisensory experiences with installations and performances in which food becomes a medium for storytelling, encounter, and reflection. In her talk “Mut & Machen” (The Courage of Doing), Viki Lund shares how passion, curiosity, and the courage to shape her own path led to the creation of her creative studio.
