CHAWANS: Tea Bowl Making Demonstration with Emmanuel ALEXIA

French Chawan artist Emmanuel Alexia will demonstrate how he forms a Tea bowl from a single piece of clay, without adding nor removing any clay in the process.

Demonstration on the occasion of the opening weekend of UNEARTHED's French Tea Bowl exhibition (opening event on Saturday May 11th from 6pm). Emmanuel Alexia's Chawans are made exclusively from wild foraged clays and materials, he creates utilising wood-fire and often the final result is strongly influenced by the natural chaos.

Time: Sunday May 12th from 11am to 12:30pm.

Free event, reservation needed due to limited space, we will serve some casual tea and snacks. If fully booked: Alexia will also be attending the opening event on Saturday May 11th from 6pm, for which no reservation is needed.

The Chawan (jap. for "tea bowl") is the centrepiece of the Japanese Tea Ceremony. UNEARTHED's latest exhibition is featuring 8 unique french perspectives on the Chawan, of which are all utilising different styles, techniques and materials.
