The exhibition by the Department of Design uses new concepts and ways of thinking to show how humanity can co-create with the most diverse forms of life in the future.
In the age of the Anthropocene, mankind has a decisive influence on the development of the Earth - to such an extent that it is almost impossible to distinguish between nature and culture. Preserving an area worth living in for future generations only seems possible if humanity assumes responsibility for all life forms and considers cohabitation, in which it designs new habitats together with other species.
In this context, it is essential for the discipline of design to establish an extended development approach: from human-centred design to earth-centred design. This holistic approach requires new ways of thinking and co-operation as well as the willingness to work co-creatively with the most diverse forms of life - and the courage to unite culture, technology and nature.
As part of the "Earth Centered Design" exhibition, Bachelor's and Master's students from the Faculty of Design at Munich University of Applied Sciences are presenting innovative concepts and ideas with which they are responding to this development. Most of the works were created as part of a project organised by Prof. Matthias Edler-Golla and Prof. Florian Petri.
