Material Futures at TUM Bioregional Design Lab

Technical University of Munich Professorship of Architecture and Design

  • — Ausstellung / Messe / Designmarkt
TUM Bioregional Design Lab
Schwere Reiter Str. 2h, 80636 München

Exhibition and networking event on bio-based, local materials in the field of architecture and design.

From acoustic panels made of hops, insulating materials made of hemp or bricks grown from fungi and bacteria - given the increasing socio-ecological challenges and climatic crises, the architecture and construction industry in particular, as one of the world's largest CO2 emitters, sees itself as having a responsibility to break new ground. With the Bioregional Design Lab at the Technical University of Munich, initiated in 2023, the Professorship of Architecture and Design is researching bio-regional design practices using regenerative materials and production cycles. The networking event and sample show Fermenting Futures. Brewing new material networks in the TUM Bio Design Lab will provide insights into current projects and forward-looking material narratives as part of MCBW.
