How does perception work, what senses are there and how can design provide support when a sense fails? An exhibition about the ‘senses of life’
We all need to perceive our environment in order to master the challenges of life. We need to find food, communicate with each other and orientate ourselves. Seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting and touching are all part of the basic human sensory system. But how exactly does this work and how can universal design provide support when a sense is limited or no longer available?
The exhibition shows a small selection from the successful special exhibition ‘Von Sinnen’ (From Senses) at the Natural History Museum in Karlsruhe and combines this with examples of universal design.
We would like to thank the Naturkundemuseum Karlsruhe for their support!
