Beate Leonards talks about her silver works of unusual conception, concentration and character.
Beate Leonards' silversmith works combine asymmetry and harmony, calmness and tension. Her approach to form and its effect seems analytically reflected, her objects appear radical and poetic at the same time. Slightly modified partial geometries are combined to create complex yet seemingly simple objects of the highest presence. The basis for this is a deep understanding of material and technique, the concession to the long duration of production and an attitude that rejects both the pleasing and pure functionalism. Beate Leonards thus proves that well-designed objects, just like the great works of music or painting, can move us and touch us deeply.
