Robert Jende

Robert Jende was born in 1984 and grew up in East Germany. He studied sociology and philosophy at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. After graduating, he moved to Munich, first to the Institute of Sociology at the LMU and then to the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, with stops at Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen and Furtwangen University. With his doctorate in 2020, he launched the field of performative sociology with the aim of not only understanding society, but also changing it. Most recently, he co-developed the Democracy Café event and participation format as part of the "RePair Democracy" research project, and since 2023 has been building a network of Democracy Cafés at the anstiftung.
