Type Walk – A typographic stroll through Munich

Join us on a special kind of city tour and get to know Munichs writing tradition on a leisurely walk.

Arial, Times New Roman or Comic Sans - we use different fonts in everyday office life as a matter of course. But who actually creates these fonts? When is a font a success? And which font is the right one for a particular occasion or purpose?
The city of Munich has a long and influential font tradition, and if you take a careful stroll through the streets, you can see this on every corner: There are new and old typefaces, huge and tiny, chiselled, brushed, printed, embossed and glued, glowing, extinguished, destroyed and vanished - and there is an exciting story behind every single letter.
On a walk through Munichs city centre, we will uncover as many of these letter stories as possible and bring them back to our attention. Because "once you've been on a typographical walk like this, you'll see street or company signs in a new light" (Süddeutsche Zeitung).

Together with Kai Büschl, Katharina Seidl and Oliver Linke are partners in Lazydogs Typefoundry, a Munich-based typeface label that has made a name for itself since 2005 with numerous typeface publications. Both are absolute experts in the field and are happy to pass on their expertise in lectures and teaching assignments.
